About Me

McAfee Knob (on the AT), near Blacksburg, VA

I am a displaced Texas girl (and the proudest member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of ’84), who is blessed enough to be spending a few years in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.  I was lucky enough to grow up in the great state of Texas, but have also lived in Kentucky, Louisiana, Montreal, Mississippi, California (briefly), and Virginia.  I am a teacher by trade, whose heart belongs to preschoolers.  I have a love for God, family, good friends, good food, good music, good books (especially great children’s books), big dogs, travel, hiking, and photography.  I have been married for almost 30 years, and am mom to 3 wonderful (really) kids, and one great son-in-law.  As I near my 50th (gulp!) birthday next year, I am working hard on carving out more time for the things I love.

  1. Mary Lou, I love your pictures. I have a niece who lives in Knoxville and is taking photography classes. I would love to suggest this for her to do. What do I tell her? She is such an amazing person. like you, and has much to share with others. Thanks, Ginger.

    • Ginger,
Best advice I could give her is to befriend a 20 (or so) year old, for whom all of this technology stuff comes naturally, to help her set it all up! It really has been a lot of fun, and I am learning a lot. My blog is set up through Word Press, and I did find it relatively user friendly once I got it established. She’ll also want to set up hosting for her site, which is another learning adventure. Email me if I can be of any further help. Thanks for your visit and your complements!
