dog in goggles in veterans parade with flag

Yesterday afternoon, our small town held a wonderful little parade to honor the veterans in our area.  Downtown Main Street was lined with grateful, flag-waving, cheering people paying tribute to veterans of all ages as they paraded by.  Ruby, an illustrious figure often seen cruising around town in her barrel and sporting her goggles and cool demeanor, fit right into the company.  I hope this parade will become an annual event.  What a great way to honor those who have put their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

One of my favorite places to visit and spend time in, Santa Fe, New Mexico is highlighted by the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.  Located on the square in the heart of downtown, this Roman Catholic Cathedral was built between 1869 and 1886 on the site of two older churches dating back to 1626.  Today, this church and the grounds surrounding it serve not only as a sacred place of worship, but also as a peaceful resting place for weary shoppers, adventurers, and sight seers visiting the city.
