The unusual beauty of cactus always surprises me. This cactus was especially colorful, and helped to remind me that interest and beauty can be found even in what appears to be ordinary and unexciting. The constant challenge comes in allowing myself to see it.
I woke up early this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep! This is something that only seems to happen to me in the summer… when I have the luxury of sleeping late. In the winter, when it is cold and grey and dark outside, the alarm rudely jolts me awake every morning. Anyway, the house was quiet, so I decided to take a little drive and do a little shooting in the morning light. Thanks to inspiration from a great photography book I am currently enjoying, I shot this purple flower not only from the front, but also from underneath, with the sun behind it. I love the result! Can’t wait to try this technique with my new lens – coming on the big brown truck today!!!
